The beleaguered State Congress is making all-out efforts to put up a united front with a single point agenda – win the next Assembly election - at any cost.

The general body meeting of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee held in the City on Saturday adopted eight resolutions to regain its foothold in the State. It was decided to capitalise on the ‘failures’ of the ruling BJP to project Congress as the alternative.

Addressing the media after chairing the day-long meeting, KPCC president G Parameshwara said that the local leaders will be directed to take up one or two major issues pertaining to that region and launch a sustained agitation against the State government. He said ‘padayatras’ will be taken out as part of the agitation in all 224 Assembly constituencies.

Parameshwara said he will tour all the constituencies along with Siddaramaiah and Motamma from March to June to reorganise the party from the grassroots.

The resolutions passed are – to highlight the failures of the BJP government; pressure the government to pass resolutions to bring an amendment to Article 371; demand action on the Lokayutka mining report; launch an agitation against non-appointment of the Lokayukta; expose the RSS control over the government; demand a CBI probe into the scam in the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike; focus on the achievements of UPA I and II; root for the cause of the youth, students and  women; and to welcome the Centre’s decision to provide internal reservation for the minorities.
