Mother Dairy to expand operations

Mother Dairy, the premier milk and dairy products company of Delhi and NCR has decided to expand its presence in other parts of the country within the next 2-3 years.

“We are planning to strengthen our product range in the Southern and Western markets,” said Shiva Nagarajan, Managing Director, Mother Dairy Fruit and Vegetable Pvt Ltd.
He said they plan to set up a factory in Mumbai and added that efforts will be made to increase the footprint to Bangalore and Chennai.

Set up in 1974, Mother Dairy is a wholly owned subsidiary of National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) of India. Mother Dairy was valued at Rs 5,200 crore this financial year and is growing at 28 per cent annually.

Mother Dairy collects around 60 lakh litre of milk daily from farmers of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. It has over 1,200 exclusive booths in Delhi and NCR.

In addition, it runs 350-375 Safal outlets to vend out vegetables and fruits.It sells token milk through 3,000 shops, which also includes the insulated carts that reaches far flung areas in Delhi and NCR to deliver milk.

Nagarajan said efforts are on to expand operations in Uttar Pradesh. “In UP we are working in partnership with Pradeshik Cooperative Dairy Federation to reach out to a larger section of people,” he said.
