A Japanese woman got a ritual done according to Hindu tradition, so that the souls of her father and uncle rest in peace, on the banks of River Cauvery in the town on Tuesday.

Chuko Hu, a lecturer in Tokyo, got the ‘Preta Shanti’ done in the names of the duo who had died in an earthquake. The ritual was performed under the leadership of Dr Bhanuprakash Sharma, a noted astrologer of the town, according to Hindu traditions and practices.

Chuko Hu’s relatives were facing problems as it was said that the souls of her parents had not rested in peace. Hence, ‘pinda pradana’ and ‘Narayana bali pooja’ were performed, Sharma said.

The Japanese woman was told that performing the ritual on the full moon day of the Hindu month of Magha would ensure that the souls attain liberation, to which she agreed.

The woman had contacted Sharma three days ago, after getting to know about him in Tirupati.
