S Riaz Pasha, representative of the 18th ward, staged a protest all by himself on the CMC premises on Thursday, demanding fulfilment of requirements of the ward.

Pasha complained that repeated requests for repair of underground drains and solution to drinking water problem went unheeded.

Sitting next to a chair, on which was placed a picture of Mahatma Gandhi, Pasha said the water problem in and around Shahenshah Nagar and Mahalakshmi Layout in his ward had worsened severely.

“We sent a request on December 20 to connect more pipes to borewells to improve the water supply, but to no avail,” he added.

Incessant pleasSimilar requests for repair of underground drains were submitted continuously from January 31 to February 2. The officers concerned, however, have not responded, Pasha said. The president and commissioner too have totally neglected the problem of the ward. The residents are having a difficult time coping with the problems, Pasha complained.

“I complained on February 3 to even the Deputy Commissioner about the negligent attitude of the CMC officers. None of our efforts have given positive results, forcing this protest,” he explained.
