A schoolgirl was raped by a man who wanted to teach her a lesson as she had turned down his proposal for friendship a few months backs, police said on Friday.

He took the help of two others – one of them a minor – to abduct the 13-year-old, class 8 student of a government school.

The incident came to light on Thursday night after the victim lodged a complaint at Jyoti Nagar police station in north-east Delhi against 21-year-old Gaurav, who is a driver, and his two friends. All three have been arrested. Gaurav, who married only a few days back, has been charged with both kidnapping and rape.

He told police he felt humiliated and sought revenge ever since the victim had snubbed his request for friendship. The girl, who lives with her parents in Dilshad Colony area, told police she was out shopping at a local market near her house when she was kidnapped.

“Gaurav and his two friends stopped the car near her when she was on her way to the market. She was asked to sit in the car as he wanted to talk to her,” a police officer said.

When she refused, they dragged her into the car and took her to Gaurav’s rented accommodation in Jyoti Nagar where he raped her, police said. According to the victim, the accused beat her up and threatened to kill her if she told her parents or police about the rape.

“They kept her there for a couple of hours before letting  her go. The victim straight away walked to the police station and narrated the entire incident,” said police.

A police team conducted raid at the house and nabbed the three youths. The car used to kidnap was also seized.
