As curtains came down on his Sadhbhavna programme on Sunday at the religious township of Ambaji, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was back at his Gujarat pride theme taking pot-shots at his detractors who he alleged were “out yet again to defame Gujarat.”

Modi had launched the Sadhbhavna mission in September last year after the Supreme court refused to pass any order against him in the Zakiya Jafri complaint and instead asked the SIT to submit its final report to a magistrates court. Significantly, his Sadhbhavna mission ended just a few days after the SIT submitted the report which apparently gave him a clean chit.

Modi, however, refrained from making any comments on the developments instead he took pot shots at his detractors. “Today (Sunday) is the last day of my sadhbhavna and from Monday you will see how anti Gujarat forces will again come out on the streets to defame the state. They are upset with the success of my mission,” he said. He also attacked the Opposition Congress claiming that since they have been rejected time and again by the people, they were resorting to such tactics.

“They are spreading canards against me but they will not succeed in their design since the people of the state are with me,’’ he remarked. The report has stated that there were no prosecutable evidence against Modi even though the amicus curie appointed by the court had in his separate report suggested that he could be prosecuted. Meanwhile, a magistrate’s court in Ahmedabad is expected to hear a petition filed by Jafri seeking details on whether the SIT had filed report as per guidelines.
