Australia captain Michael Clarke was today ruled out of Friday's tri-series ODI match against Sri Lanka due to a hamstring strain he sustained during the four-wicket loss to India here.
"Australian captain Michael Clarke has been ruled out of Friday's one-dayer against Sri Lanka at the SCG due to a grade one hamstring strain," Cricket Australia said in a statement. Clarke sustained the injury while fielding during the loss to India, at the Adelaide Oval yesterday.
"The 30-year-old will be assessed later in the week and is optimistic he will feature against Sri Lanka at the Gabba on Sunday."
Cricket Australia will now announce their squad for the remaining matches of the series tomorrow after originally planning on doing so today.
"An acting captain will also be confirmed on Tuesday," CA said. Australia currently sit atop the tri-series table with two wins and a loss but could move down to second if India beat Sri Lanka in Adelaide tomorrow.
