Indian men bow to Malaysia

Indian men go down to Malaysia 0-3 in the Thomas Cup (Asia Zone) second-stage tie here on Thursday.

World number one Lee Chong Wee gave Malaysia winning start by beating Ajay  Jayaram 21-12, 17-21, 21-8 in a match that lasted 47 minutes. Doubles pair of Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong then stretched Malaysia’s lead when they beat Rupesh Kumar-Sanave Thomas 21-14, 23-21.

Malaysia’s winning point was delivered by former All England champion Hafiz Hashim, who beat P Kashyap 21-17, 18- 21-18, 21-11 in 63 minutes.

Indian shuttlers will now have to play for the 5-8 playoffs.
