Retd bank manager booked for rape

Cops arrested him while he was taking the teenager to Shringeri

Kuvempunagar police on Friday arrested a retired manager of a cooperative bank on charge of raping a minor girl.

The accused has been identified as Prabhakar, 60, a resident of Dattagalli in the city.He is a divorcee. He had befriended a 17-year-old college going girl in his neighbourhood. However the girl went missing on February 8. 

Anxious parents of the girl had lodged a missing complaint in this regard at the same police station. 

Police who were investigating into the case succeeded in tracking the girl to a place near Shringeri on Friday morning. 

The accused was taking the girl to the shrine with the intention best known to him. Acting on the complaint of the girl’s parents, police have booked him for kidnap, confinement and rape.
