Subsequently, the work for the institute will commence after the local government completes formalities.

Madhya Pradesh currently has three regional forensic science labs; at Gwalior, Indore and Bhopal. Sagar houses the state forensic lab. Currently, such forensic centres are located at Hyderabad, Chandigarh, New Delhi (CBI) and Kolkata. New, upgraded centres of international standards would be coming up at Bhopal, Pune and in Assam.
