Childs parents seek compensation

The accident occurred when the victim Sriram was playing in front of his house, behind Government Primary School. Sriram was the only son of Kumar hailed from Tamil Nadu. His parents worked at a farm owned by Nanjappa, the police said.

Nanjappa had rented out his farm to be used as dumpyard for scrap. Canter driver dumped the scrap materials and was speeding towards Vidyaranyapura.

He lost control over the vehicle and hence knocked Sriram down, when he suddenly spotted him playing. However, the driver jumped off the canter and fled, the police added. A large crowd gathered at the accident spot and pelted stones at the cater. They demanded compensation from the canter owner and sought stern action against the driver.

Cash stolen
Thieves struck at the office of a private company and fled with Rs 3 lakh in Chamarajpet police limits on Saturday.

Police said the thieves gained entry inside the office of Unitech on Chamarajpet 4th main road. They opened the cashier’s drawer, stole the cash and fled. The cashier had kept Rs 3.60 lakh. Interestingly, the thieves kept Rs 60,000 in the drawer before leaving the place. The office door is intact. Hence, the police suspect the role of insiders in the incident.  The theft came to light on Monday when the office staff came for duty, added the police.
