Polls close UP border liquor shops

In view of the sixth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh to elect members of Vidhan Sabha on 28th February, the Excise Department of Delhi has issued a notification to observe dry days from 5 pm on February 26 to 5 pm on 28th February within 500 metres distance from Delhi - Uttar Pradesh border in the capital city.

Excise department on Saturday decided to keep liqour shops shut.

According to excise officials, the liquor shops in Delhi adjoining to the Uttar Pradesh border are popular with Noida and Ghaziabad residents as liquor is cheaper in the Capital compared to these cities.
