'Palemar should take truth test'

Last Updated 26 February 2012, 17:28 IST

Former MLA Vijaykumar Shetty said that if former minister Krishna Palemar has courage and believes in ‘dharma’ of the land, then he should take a truth test before the God in any of the temples in Dakshina Kannada and tell the public that he was innocent in porngate scam and does not know how to operate the mobilephone.

Speaking to presspersons here on Friday, he said the three ministers who were involved in porngate scam should be punished under Section 67 of Information Technology Act 2000, which is the punishment for publishing and transmitting obscene materials in electronic form. The punishment is three years imprisonment and a fine of Rs five lakh.

There is a clear evidence against three ministers. The trio should be punished, so that such incidents do not recur in the future. As there was clear evidence, there was no need for constituting a committee to probe into the incident. The scam has lowered the dignity of the State Assembly.

Former Chief Minister B S yeddyurappa’s statement supporting the three ministers who were involved in porngate scam is highly condemnable. As a former CM, he should not have made such a statement.

Stating that Speaker K G Bopaiah is also making lot of mistakes, Shetty said one can not accept any justice from him.

He said the internal fight in the BJP has affected the development work in the State. Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda may not be knowing the number of portfolios he is holding. Hence, it is high time, he extends the state cabinet.

Mangalore City Corporation  opposition leader Lancelot Pinto asked what kind of administration, the state government is giving amidst the differences of opinion within the ministers and MLAs.
