MLA D N Jeevaraj requested the voters not to pay heed to the negative propaganda by the Congress and to vote for the BJP for the developmental work it has carried out in the constituency.

He was speaking at the BJP booth-level workers convention organised in the backdrop of Chikmagalur-Udupi by polls at Koppa Town Hall premises on Sunday.

The BJP has brought in several developments in the constituency, which no other party could do in the last few decades.

The credit goes to the BJP for constructing concrete road for ST colony, building schools, colleges and hostels, fire service, areca research centre and developing the main roads of the district.

As far as providing justice to yellow disease affected areca growers is concerned, it is the responsibility of the Central government to implement Gorak Singh report, he said.

Addressing the convention, BJP State Vice-president Bhanu Prakash said that the election should be fought by highlighting the achievements of the BJP State government and the failure of the Central government.

The BJP candidate for the by polls, Sunil Kumar said that having fought for Dattapeeta and having worked as Karkala MLA, he is aware of the burning problems of both the districts.

“The party has handed over leadership task to a common party worker like me. All the party workers should take this election as the question of prestige as this constituency earlier belonged to the Chief Minister,” he said.

Coming down heavily on the Central government for hiking the price of daily commodities and petroleum products and for refusing to bring back the black money stashed in foreign banks, he said that awareness should be brought on such issues among the voters.
Former BJP Member of Legislative Assembly Araga Jnanendra, Block BJP President Neelesh and others were present at the occassion.
