Dr Padur was walking historian: VC

Speaking after inaugurating the programme and releasing the reprinted volume of Dr Padur Gururaja Bhat’s work ‘Tulunadu, VC lauded the contributions of Dr Padur to the field of Tulunadu literature and added that he was a pioneer in presenting the history of Tulunadu imbibed with cultural essence. He not only presented historical facets of land, but also offered a cultural overview of the historical facts. Dr Padur was a walking historian, he added. Unlike these days, teaching career was considered a sacred profession during the period of Dr Padur. For him attaining the doctoral degree was a beginning to explore the research materials and not the end of it, Prof Kaveriappa added. Dharmadarshi of Sri Mahakali Janardhana Temple at Ambalpadi Dr N Vijaya Ballal presided. Renowned historian Dr K G Vasantha Madhava, Mangalore University retired Professor Dr B Surendra Rao, Trust Chairman Prof Sripathy Thantri, President Parvathi Bhat, Treasurer Parusharama Bhat and others were present.
