JOIN USThe High Court dismissed a petition by J V Sarvana Prasad, Chairman and Managing Director of Innovative Studios Private Limited, seeking to quash the investigation against him.
Hearing a petition by Prasad, seeking to quash the investigation ordered against him by City Police Commissioner terming it as illegal, Justice N Ananda dismissed the petition and observed: “The order of the Commissioner is within the jurisdiction and is proper, as there is a prima facie evidence of fraud.” Stating that the investigation should continue, Justice Ananda said that the court will not interfere in the matter.
City-based realtor J Somashekar had lodged a complaint against Prasad alleging that the latter cheated him by denying the shares promised to him as per the agreement between them. When the HAL police found that there were several other complaints against Prasad, the matter was referred to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) for investigation, which was challenged by the petitioner in the trial court.
