<p>BJP State President K S Eshwarappa has admitted that the party has given election tickets to ‘bad’ candidates in the past.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The party has understood that they have lost their reputation due to these candidates and are now scared that it shall affect the upcoming Udupi-Chikmanglur by-polls, said DK District Congress Committee President and MLA Ramanath Rai.<br /><br />BJP has failed to follow political values. With the porngate scandal, one can be sure that the BJP ministers even lack moral values. However, former Chief Minister is supporting these ministers. This is a shameful act, he said and added that the BJP is also trying to suppress the rights of the media.<br /><br />“It was media who broke out the porngate scandal. Now by trying to suppress their rights, BJP thinks that they can hide their mistakes,” said Rai.<br /><br />“I am confident that the Congress will fare well in the elections. Congress candidate Jayprakash Hegde is an able candidate of good reputation. Professionally, he was in the legal faternity. Even his father was in the legal faternity. He has a good understanding of the legal affairs. People have seen the failure of the BJP government with various scams.<br /><br /> This shall definately affect them in the elections,” added Rai. The Congress does not potray any religious ideologies. The party has people of all faiths and all are in perfect harmony, he said.<br /><br />Campaigning<br />A meet of Congress workers was held after the press meet. Various Block Congress committees were given responsibility of taking up election campaign for the upcoming Udupi-Chikmagalur bypolls.<br /><br />Mangalore North, South and Surthkal blocks were given the responsibility to undertake the campaigning in Kaup; Bantwal, Panemanagalur and Gurupura blocks were given the responsibility to take up campaigning in Udupi; Moodbidre, Belthangady and Mulki were given the responsibility of Karkala; Ullal, Mudipu and Uppinangady blocks were given the responsibility of Kundapur.<br /></p>
