Playwright H N Hugar no more

He is survived by his wife, a son and three daughters. His last rites will be performed on Thursday.

Born on 20 March, 1932 in a poor family, Hugar carved a niche for himself and earned fame as a playwright, actor and director. A popular figure in North Karnataka, Hugar was known for his plays with social themes. Based on his shows many films were produced including ‘Pattanakke Banda Patniyaru’. A multi-faceted personality, Hugar had scripted story and dialogue for a film ‘Kitturu Chennamma’ starring the Kannada matinee idol Dr Rajkumar, B Sarojadevi and others.
