Fire mishap, eucalyptus, coconut trees affected in Hassan

Forest department officials say it is not forest fire

Two fire accidents have been reported on Sunday in Hassan. The first incident was reported at an eucalyptus groove under Hongere range forest. The other was a fire accident at a poultry farm in which 15 coconut trees were gutted.

Fire was spotted at the eucalyptus groove near Shantigarma at around 1 pm. With a lot of dry eucalyptus leaves, fire spread briskly.

 Only one staffer of the forest department was seen dousing the fire in vain.

Clarification

“There was no forest fire in Hongere. Fire was lit to weeds in the border of the forest, which spread to dry eucalyptus leaves. There has been no great loss,” said forest officials.

The fire mishap in Gaadenahalli has gutted around 15 coconut trees and old construction materials in the compound of poultry farm of one Godwin.

The fire which was lit to hay in the neighbouring fields spread to the farm, said Godwin.
Fire personnel had to struggle to bring the situation under control.
