Even as the advocates have abstained from courts in protest against the alleged biased attitude of police and media during the mayhem in Bangalore on March 2, the police in Mysore expressed their protest by wearing black bands on their arms.

The protest by men in khaki also assumes significance for it being the first instance in the recent past.  Sources said, following a communique from the office of DG and IG of police Shankar Bidri on Thursday, nearly 2,000 men strong city police reported to duty on Friday wearing black bands on their left arms from 8 am to 12 noon. From those on station duty to outside including civil and traffic police, all were seen with black bands.

However, it was only for sometime, as there were clear orders from the office of DG and IG to stage symbolic protest.
