A time for cultural pot-pourri

The students of Seshadripuram College celebrated their college day recently with great zeal and enthusiasm. They received prizes for amazing performances in sports and cultural events, which was followed by colourful entertainment programmes. Tarang 2009 was formally inaugurated by singer Shimoga Subbanna who enthralled the audience with his melodious songs. “In today’s world, tendency of  scoring marks has sidelined cultural activities of students. But we should realise that extra-curricular activities are as significant as curricular activities,” observed the veteran singer.
In his welcome speech, Principal Narahalli Balasubramanya said cultural activities brings in discipline in a student’s life. W P Krishna, the Secretary of Seshadripuram Educational Trust, asked the students to imbibe social responsibility. The Chairman of Governing Council M S Nataraj was present on the dais.


Alumni inauguration

The Alumni Association at Baldwin Women’s Methodist College made its mark in all pomp and glory recently leaving footprints on the Alumni Book, specially designed by the BWMC union members. The programme opened with a prayer followed by the multifarious cultural activities. Principal Lydia P Samuel presided over the function.


Hard work pays

The XIME Campus held its convocation last week. The event saw more than 130 students receive their PGDM from Sarosh J Ghandy, Chairman, Board of Governors. The chief guest was Dr Ganesh Natarajan, CEO, Zensar Technologies and former Chairman, NASSCOM.

Prof J Philip President, XIME Society welcomed the gathering. In his address, he outlined the persistent efforts put in by XIME in contributing its mite to the internationalisation of its management programmes which started with the signing up of MOUs with a number of B-Schools in the US and Europe. Prof R Venkataraman, Director, presented the annual report.

Awards of Excellence was given away to Divya K Nambiar for scoring the highest CGPA and Hansen Menezes for best all-round performance. The chief guest exhorted the students to make a difference in the environment through their contributions. The occasion also saw the release of a book Global Management Education-Country Studies, a compendium of select papers on management education world-wide. The book outlines the impact on the internationalisation of management education.

Annual Day


The 12th Annual Day of the Shirdi Sai Engineering College was organised recently. One of the highlights of the celebrations was a presentation about the college and short film, Terror Free India was screened by the students.
 Among the dignitaries were Prof R M Vasagam, former vice-chancellor, Anna University, Major General Virinder Uberoy, (Retd.
The principal Dr T V Govindaraju, welcomed the gathering. Prof S R Sridhar presented the annual report and Prof R M Vasagam, released the college Souvenir Sai Spandana 2008-2009. Addressing those present, Vasagam stressed on innovation and patenting to keep pace with the fast technological development.
    Cash prizes, medals and certificates were given away to the toppers from each class. The teaching staff who have achieved 100 per cent results in their subjects were also given a citation, medal and cash award.
