Dumped garbage blocks traffic on CB Pur roads

Complaints by residents to address woes have fallen on deaf ears

Even as encroachments are being cleared, making way for wider roads in Bagepalli and Chintamani taluks, the roads in Chikkaballapur are being closed for both human and vehicular movement.

One of the roads near the City Municipal Council is closed due to reckless dumping of garbage.

The road behind Krishna theatre in ward no 10 has beenclosed for the past two years.

Though the houses of CMC commissioner and officers are located on the road, garbage has not been cleared to allow access to public and traffic.

Promises failed
“Umpteen promises to make Chikkaballapur a model city remain unfulfilled. The authorities are only whiling away their time instead of resolving the issue. Moreover, how can a city be developed if its roads are closed  with garbage,” rued the residents.

“The road behind Krishna theatre was used by the public two years ago. However, gradually the residents started to dump garbage, that eventually converted the entire road into a dumpyard. As a result the road had to be closed completely,” said B V Rajesh, a resident.

Inconvenience

As the road remains closed, the people have to go round about the way to reach the alternate roads. Moreover, the residents are forced to bear the stench emanating from the garbage. The apathetic attitude of the officers concerned is shocking, added Rajesh.

Repeated appeals by the residents to address the woes have only fallen on deaf ears, complain the residents.

“The CMC officers undertaking asphalting work should also clear the garbage and open up the roads for transportation,” said Anasuyamma, a resident.
