Cops crack jail shootout

Last Updated 12 March 2012, 19:28 IST

Police on Monday claimed to have cracked the Dulina shootout case, which left three undertrial prisoners dead and four others injured, saying the conspiracy was hatched in Jhajjar jail by another undertrial.

Jhajjar SP Patram Singh said Anil Chhippi alias Leela directed his gang members through a cellphone from the jail to gun down Shri Bhagwan, kingpin of a rival gang, and his accomplices because of personal enmity.

A case under appropiate sections of the IPC has also been registered against Chhippi on the complaint of the Jhajjar jail superintendent after the recovery, the SP said.

The shootout was financed by Rajesh, sarpanch of Karor village in Rohtak as he wished to avenge murders of his wife and aunt from Bhagwan, Singh said.
