In touch with Cong men, doors open for all possibilities: BJP

Last Updated 13 March 2012, 09:36 IST

Amid factional feud in Congress over the chief ministerial candidate in Uttarakhand, BJP today said it has kept its "doors open for all kinds of future possibilities" and is in touch with some Congress, BSP and Independent leaders.

BJP leader and former chief minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank said, "BJP has kept its doors open for all kinds of future possibilities."

BJP, which got 31 seats, had lost race for the formation of government to Congress by falling just short of one seat.

"We are closely watching all the developments...we are in touch with some Congress leaders, besides some Independents and BSP," state BJP president Bishan Singh Chufal said, refusing to elaborate further.

"Congress has not been able to decide who should be the new leader. Even after selecting (Vijay) Bahuguna, there is a lot of resentment within the party. In such a scenario, it cannot give a stable government," he said.

BSP had yesterday presented to the Uttarakhand Governor a letter of support to a Congress-led government in the state and said party chief Mayawati would decide on who will become minister in the new dispensation.

Taking a dig at the Congress for its growing infighting, Nishank said, "They (Congress) took so many days in selecting the name of Bahuguna. And now, Harish Rawat's resignation has come. Congress is making a mockery of people of Uttarakhand."

BJP sources said top party leaders like former chief minister Bhagat Singh Koshiyari were also in touch with some top Congress leaders.
