Last Updated 14 March 2012, 21:03 IST

Twenty child labourers, mostly from villages in UP and Bihar, were rescued from garment and shoe factories in north-west Delhi, a child rights NGO reported on Wednesday.

Four persons were arrested in Indira Enclave in north-west Delhi and a factory was sealed.
“The rescued kids are between 8 and 14 years old. They were used as bonded labour. Most of the kids are from villages in UP and Bihar. The children were brought to Delhi by middlemen, who paid an advance to their parents and promised them that the kids would be looked after well in the city,” said a Bachpan Bachao Andolan member.
