Jurisdictional police claim innocence over death in Bogadi

Dejected over a break-up in love, a youth has allegedly committed suicide on Wednesday. Strangely, there is uncertainty over the nature of death and also place of occurrence with the police passing the buck on others, ostensibly to hush up the matter.

The deceased is identified as Arjun (21) son of P M Siddaraju, inspector at CID in Bangalore. Earlier to his transfer, Siddaraju served at Saraswatipuram police station in Mysore. Sources said, Arjun was in love with a girl and took the extreme step owing to fissures in the relationship recently, according to the suicide note. Though it is said that Arjun killed self at the house at Bank Colony in Bogadi, the jurisdictional Saraswatipuram police claim innocence over the matter.

After much persistence, they said, “he committed suicide at his grandparents place in Mullur near Kollegal in Chamarajanagar district.

It is the prerogative of the parents to lodge complaint, and there is nothing wrong in it, even if they don’t.” However, some cops from Saraswathipuram station are learnt to have attended the funeral ceremony on Thursday night.

Adding further confusion, sub-inspector of Kollegal rural police station Puttaswamy, under whose jurisdiction Mullur is located, denied that the youth committed suicide in the village.

“If it had happened, we would have shared the information with media”, Puttaswamy asserted.

When contacted, police commissioner K L Sudheer said he too was not aware of the incident. He clarified that in such cases, the family members will be held responsible for not informing the police over unnatural death.

It is believed that, with Siddaraju being a known officer in the police circle, the higher-ups have been keeping mum over the case.
