The Supreme Court appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) on Tuesday asked
all respondents to submit their replies to questions on illegal mining in Karnataka.

Advocates representing former Karnataka chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, JSW Limited, Adani Enterprises, S R Hiremath from Samaj Parivarthna Samudaya and officials from the Department of Mines and Geology, Karnataka, appeared before the CEC headed by P V Jayakrishanan.

After hearing the arguments, the panel has asked them to submit their replies to about 500 questions on the illegal mining, transportation of ore and transfer of funds by mining companies to trust owned by family members of Yeddyurappa, by April 9.

The next hearing of the CEC will take place on April 11. After studying their replies, the CEC is likely to submit its report to the Supreme Court around mid-April.
