Namma Metro is set to get Rs 500 crore in this year’s budget.

Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda said work on Phase II will begin before the next budget and is expected to be completed by 2017-2018.

The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited expects to add another 10.4 km to Metro Reach-1 in the next nine months. The entire work on Phase I is expected to be completed by December 2013.

Metro Phase II, which includes four extension lines and two new lines with a total length of 72 km, is estimated to cost Rs 26,405 crore.

When completed, it will provide the much-needed last mile connectivity to commuters.

The State government has requested the Centre to participate in and part-finance Phase II as has been done for Phase I.  The work on Phase II is expected to commence in 2012-13 and to be completed by 2017-18.
