Five die in separate mishaps

Two persons were killed when a private bus heading to Bangalore from Mangalore rammed into a motorbike on the outskirts of Hassan city recently.

The deceased have been identified as Kantharaj of Mandya and Madesha of Rajaghatta. The duo were heading from Arkalgud to the city when the mishap occurred near Bittegodanahalli bypass circle.

Both were killed on the spot and the motorbike was dragged to a distance by the bus. Enraged by the accident, locals threw stones at the bus. The bus driver is absconding.

Traffic police have seized the bus and registered a case.

Five injured

Five persons were injured when the driver of the lorry lost control and collided with an auto and two motorbikes near Channarayapatna Gate in Hassan. The mishap is said to have occurred as the brakes of the lorry failed. The injured are auto driver Dinesh, passengers Basavaraj and Vinod. The lorry driver is absconding. Traffic police have registered a case.

Two killed in Malavalli

Two persons were killed and 20 others injured when an auto transporting people toppled at BG Pura in Malavalli recently. The deceased have been identified as Puttamma (40) wife of Basavaraju Nayak and Shivu (10) son of Shivamallu of Bhudahalli in T Narsipur taluk, Mysore district. They were returning from a temple when the mishap occurred. Belakawadi police have registered a case.

Motorist dies in mishap

One person was killed and three others injured as a result of a collision between two motorcycles at Ummadahalli in the taluk on Sunday evening. The deceased has been identified as K H Adarsha (26) of Keelara. Mandya rural police have registered a case.
