With an aim to expand the tourism sector in Kerala, a partnership meet for travel and trade partners in Bangalore and Kerala was conducted at Vivanta by Taj recently.

The programme succeeding in showcasing a mini-Kerala in the City and received much appreciation.

The evening had lots in store for the guests.

It began with a promotional video which showed the beauty of ‘God’s Own
Country’.

Following this, Kerala’s classical dance forms like mohiniyattam and kathakali and the martial art form of kalaripayattu were presented.

The mohiniyattam team consisted of a group of five girls who were a picture of elegance.

The performance was a form of prayer which was offered to Lord Ganesha.

The dancers was at their expressive best, speaking through their eyes and the mudras.
The next event was the kathakali performance. Through language of gestures, the artists conveyed interesting stories.

The body movements and footwork of the artistes were very impressive. The dance was full of expressions and power-packed.

However, what attracted everybody’s attention was kalaripayattu, the martial art which aims to co-ordinate mind and body.

The actions of the performers were clever and quick and that left the audience stunned.
The defensive and offensive techniques that were used were impeccable.

It was also announced at the event that as part of the ‘Grand Kerala Shopping Festival’ (GKSF), which takes place in Kerala in December every year, approximately 101 kg of gold would be given away as a prizes this year.

GKSF is claimed to be the signature shopping festival of Kerala and a much-awaited annual event.

Conducted by the Tourism Department of Kerala, the festival, it was said, has become a successful exercise in the process of transforming Kerala into a hub for international shopping experience.
