'Take action to stop illicit liquor'

Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Dr N V Prasad has directed the Excise Department officers to take immediate action, if they come across any illicit liquor unit and illegal liquor sales activities in the district. 

Dr N V Prasad spoke about the prohibition of illegal liquor production and sale, in the background of illegal liquor ban, at Madikeri Deputy Commissioner’s office premises on Thursday.

Superintendent of Police Manjunath Annigeri expressed his satisfaction that Police Department and the Exicse Department are working effectively to control illicit liquor production and illegal sale of the liquor. 

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer N Krishnappa promised that ZP would provide rehabilitation for the families which are dependent on illicit liquor production. 

Excise Deputy Commissioner H N Anand said that there are reports of illicit liquor production from Peraje, Karike of Madikeri Taluk, Mathada Kadu, Tholur Shettalli, Kodlipet, Madre, Hampalapur, Kitturkoppal of Somwarpet taluk, Gudlur (Maldare), Titimati, Birunani, Ayirasuli of Virajpet Taluk.

He said that department will take proper action against it. Additional DC K M Chandregowda, Tahsildars Babu Ravindranath Patel (Madikeri), Hanumanthaiah (Virajpet), K R Bhaskar (Somwarpet) and others were present at the occasion.
