Anganwadi, GP employees demand increase in basic salary

Protest staged at TP office seeking redressal of demands

Addressing the protesters, Joint Secretary of the Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha, P R Suryanarayana, said: “The government should fix a basic salary of at least Rs 6,000 to workers of the unorganised sector.”

Demands
Among the other demands are: implementation of worker-friendly laws; making the jobs of Anganwadi, mid-day meal and GP employees permanent; extending the comprehensive social security law to include the workers from the unorganised sector so that they are paid pension, unemployment relief, and funds for healthcare and education; issual of identification cards and uniforms; issual of ration cards; and payment of pending salaries to the mid-day meal employees. Leaders of several associations P R Navin Kumar, G Eshwaramma, G Jayamma, G V Lakshmidevamma, N Manjula, Jayalakshmi, Amaranarayanappa, K P Srinivasa Reddy, Lalithamma and others took part in the protest.
