Prisoners attack jail wardens

Some prisoners today attacked three jail wardens with steel plates in the Central prison at Parappana Agrahara near here after an inmate was stopped from using a cell phone.

The wardens were trying to dissuade an inmate from using a mobile phone, when the other prisoners joined in and attacked them with plates.

The wardens, who received injuries in the attack, were taken to a hospital and discharged after first-aid.

When contacted DIG Prisons, Lakshminarayana said "So far no case has been registered. We are trying to identify the accused. We will consult our superiors and then take decision about shifting the accused to other jails."
