Denying all the allegations leveled by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, former lokayukta N Santhosh Hegde said that he had never targeted Yeddyurappa.

“I had nothing against him. All that I was concerned about was my duty and work assigned to me,” said Justice Hegde speaking to reporters here at the foundation laying ceremony of Nitte Gajria Speciality Hospital.

He said that while BSY alleged him of working for the opposition party, Congress top brasses alleged him of working for the BJP. “JD(S) too made statements against me and I have replied to all of these allegations. I have worked sincerely as the Lokayukta. I withdrew my resignation following the directions from Advani.

I was given the job of inquiring into irregularities in the mining sector that took place from 2000 to 2006 by former CM Kumaraswami. It was extended to 2010 by Yeddyurappa,” he said adding that suddenly BSY lost trust in him.

“He has never come out in open declining that his family members had received donations of Rs 10 crore through from JSW. He has also not declined that his children sold one acre land which actually cost Rs one crore at Rs 20 crore.

I just mentioned whatever was on record. I had scores of issues to reveal against him if had gone beyond records,” he said adding that Yeddyurappa went to jail due to the complaint registered by an individual named Bhasha and not because of his report report.

CEC report

Justice Hegde said that as per the CEC report submitted to the Apex Court Yeddyurappa’s sons have renewed the mining license by paying Rs six crores to another company. The Supreme Court has issued notices to them.

Reacting to the recent guidelines laid down by High court for the appointment of Lokayukta, former Lokayukta said “It is the view taken by the Court. Since last eight months there is no chief to the institution of the Lokayukta.

My immediate successor and the next one were appointed without consulting Chief Justice. Appointment is done in a casual manner. Ignoring Chief Justice is incorrect.”
