Former Lokayukta Justice N Santhosh Hegde has expressed anger over the Central and State governments for having failed to provide quality health care and educational facilities to the citizens.

Speaking after laying foundation stone for the Rs 10 crore project of multi- specialty hospital ‘Nitte Gajria Specialty Hospital’ jointly set up by Board of Trustees of Nitte and Gajria Trust, he said it is the responsibility of the State to provide health care facilities.

“The institutions set up to offer these facilities as public service are failing as they are into making money. However in Dakshina Kannada district health care facilities are confined only to city areas and Karkala is one of the areas, which have been deprived of sophisticated medical facilities. There is a need for super-specialty medical facilities in villages. It should be easily accessible to the locals,” he said

Nitte Education Trust President N Vinay Hegde informed that the hospital with 40 beds will be open for public service within 18 months.

The 4,400 sq ft hospital set up in five acres land will offer advanced nephrology and cardiology medical facilities along with pediatric casualty department service at affordable price.

The hospital will comprise of six bedded casualty center, 12 bedded ICU, dialysis facilities for four patients at a time, radiology facilities like ultra sound and X-ray, two operation theaters and a full-fledged pharmacy.

As many as eight doctors will be working simultaneously day and night to attend OPD patients, he added.
