Maya will go to jail if guilty: Shivpal

Shivpal Singh Yadav, minister for Public Works Department on Sunday said the government planned to conduct an inquiry into the allegations of misuse of funds during the Mayawati regime and punish the guilty.

“We will conduct a probe in to the allegations of corruption and misuse of pubic money. Guilty will be punished and sent to jail. Even the former chief minister will have to go to jail if found guilty'', Yadav said.

The minister said there were allegations that the ministers and officials had committed huge financial irregularities during the previous BSP government.

The new UP regime headed by Akhilesh Yadav plans to form a commission to inquire the charges of corruption. Several ministers in the previous regime had been indicted by the Lokayukta in charges of corruption and criminal activities.
