M S Ramaiah College of Hotel Management had its graduation ceremony recently

The graduation ceremony of the 2008 batch of M S Ramaiah College of Hotel Management was held recently.

The students and parents, who had gathered, sat up with pride as the principal recalled the several trophies the college had won at numerous inter-collegiate fests.

“Remember that each one of you is an ambassador of this college – that will be your proud privilege” said Abby Mathew, the principal of the college as he addressed the students.

The chief guest at the event was Albert Rebello, the general manager of Taj Gateway, who advised students that while they ought to be professional, they should also strive to be good citizens by being socially aware and proactive in their role in society.

The other guests of honour from the Gokula Education Foundation (GEF) were Dr D V Guruprasad, chief executive of GEF and Venugopala Shastry chief finance officer.

Dr Guruprasad commended the institution for its excellent academic track record and highlighted the interesting similarity between the hospitality industry and the police force where besides the emphasis on grooming standards and punctuality, the work required a high level of personal interaction with the.

The ‘Overall Best Outgoing Student Award’ was bagged by Ria Mukherjee. Keertana Ganesh and Vidhyalakshmi, who stood first and fourth in the Bangalore University Examinations in 2011, were also felicitated.

Parents, teachers and students had a warm session of bonhomie as they enjoyed an excellent dinner spread while the outgoing students sang melodious original compositions in accompaniment to a fine musical band.
