BBMP cracks whip, two repatriated

Sri Ram Reddy, Krishna Gowda shunted back for not obeying orders

Sources said Krishna Gowda was in the dock when BBMP Commissioner Bharatlal Meena visited Jayanagar and saw his instructions given earlier, have not been implemented properly. Meena had directed the CE to remove encroachments on the stormwater drain and the footpath.

As the residents kept complaining to the commissioner about the flooding in the area due to encroachments, Meena visited Jayanagar on Tuesday, at a short notice to Additional Commissioner Ajay Nagbhushan and CE Krishna Gowda. The commissioner was upset over the non-compliance of his instructions, sources said.
Some of the residents and politicians who had reached there, complained that there was no progress in the work. An angry Palike chief asked Krishna Gowda to pack up his baggage and return to go to his parent organisation, Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms. On reaching office, Meena issued the orders.

However, the reason for shifting Sri Ram Reddy, who was earlier with BWSSB was not immediately known. Palike sources said, in the last two decades no such action was taken against CEs. “This is not just a transfer but a punishment to the officer. Krishna Gowda will have to remain without posting for at least four months because all the posts are presently occupied and new vacancy cannot be created so easily for a ‘shunted’ man,” sources said. One such action was taken some years back when CAO Krishnappa was shunted to his parent organisation. A PRO, Puttaraju too had to face a similar action a year back for some irregularities.
