In spite of problems of drought and drinking water all over the state, ministers are going on tours, said member of Parliament H Vishwanath.

Addressing a press meet here on Friday, he said, opposition and ruling parties are involved in hurling allegations against one another.

Politicians ask why the works are not done, but no one thinks about how it could be done.

They are not ready to take over the responsibility to solve problems. Many officials who visit the villages do not have idea of rural areas, drought and at last they won’t even know Kannada.

Committees

Two committees are formed to study problems of drought and drinking water, which are led by MLAs. The Government is trying to please MLAs even in such critical situation with lot many problems.

Deputy commissioners and tahsildars are kept out of the operation along with the Revenue Department.

Reports given by the MLAs could be biased, which results in biased resolutions.
No economy measures and plans are made by Government to manage drought.

Hurdles

Many hurdles lie in the procedures of relief works  which has to be discussed and dealt with.
Powers should be delegated to lower rung officers, trusting them and officers to tackle drought problems should be designated to execute the projects, he said.

“Chief Minister who is feeling insecure is not able to look into the matters of developmental works, including drought management.

“BJP high command is directly responsible for such a problem created,” Vishwanath said.
It is not the question of money, but a matter of implementation and mindset of Government and representatives, he said.
