<p>Strange indeed are the ways of the Uttar Pradesh police, infamous for its “insensitivity” and conniving with the high and mighty to implicate innocent people.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The cops in UP’s Balrampur district, about 250 km from here, have lodged a case of rape and abduction against a six-year-old boy — a student of lower kindergarten of a local school.<br /><br />Along with the child—Sajan Kumar—his elder brother 10-year-old Rajan Kumar has also been booked for the same offence, according to police sources.<br /><br />According to reports, one Jeetram Yadav a few months ago had moved an application in the court of chief judicial magistrate alleging that his 13-year-old daughter had been abducted in May last year by some people. He alleged that the girl, who was rescued by the police three months later, had been raped.<br /><br />He alleged the police did not lodge any report in this regard despite the fact that he approached them several times and also disclosed the names of the accused to them.<br /><br />In his plea, Jeetram alleged that one Vijay Kumar, his wife Koyla, Jagatram, Rajan Kumar and Sajan Kumar were behind the abduction and accused Rajan and Sajan of raping his daughter.<br /><br />Taking cognizance of the matter, the court had ordered the police to register a case and investigate the matter. The cops, without making any attempt to ascertain the age of the two children, registered a case of abduction and rape against all of them.<br /><br />Of the accused, Vijay Bahadur had already been arrested and sent to jail. The cops now find themselves in a fix over the charges against the two kids.<br /><br />The father of the kids Anant Ram said they had been falsely implicated by Jeetram since he (Anant) was Vijay Bahadur’s relative. Additional Superintendent of Police Gopesh Khanna said: “We are investigating the matter and necessary action will be taken after ascertaining the facts.”<br /></p>
