JOIN USA woman who had allegedly questioned a man for standing in front of the house at late night was assaulted by him and breathed her last at Mandechikkanakoppalu on Sunday night. A family dispute is said to be the reason behind the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Manjamma (45). It is said that Manjamma and Beeregowda’s daughter Bhagya and Kumar — son of Yogegowda of the same village — were in love with each other and Bhagya is said to have become pregnant.
The parents and villagers who learnt about this held a meeting and conducted wedding between Bhagya and Kumar.This incident irked Kumar’s cousin Manja, who had been blaming Beeragowda’s family for cheating them and conducting the wedding of their daughter.
It is said that Manja was standing in front of the house of Beeregowda and cursing the family on Sunday night. When Manjamma went to question him, he allegedly hit her on the face. She collapsed and died on the spot.
Manjamma’s another daughter Manjula has lodged a complaint with Arkalgud police.
