The Supreme Court-appointed Central Empowered Committee (CEC) has directed chief secretary S V Ranganath to furnish details on the alleged dubious land transaction between the family members of former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa and South West Mining Company by April 17 in the form of an affidavit.

The Chief Secretary has been asked to file the affidavit in view of an interim petition filed by S R Hiremath of the Samaja Parivarthana Samudaya recently. The CEC has in its letter to the chief secretary sought replies to five questions pertaining to the issue, sources said.

Details sought by the CEC include the BDA’s decision to acquire 1.02 acres at Rachenahalli in K R Puram hobli, names of the then chief minister and deputy chief minister at the time of denotification of the land, who purchased the land from the original owners after the denotification, all further transactions over the land and price for which the land was sold.

The family members of Yeddyurappa allegedly bought the land from the original owners at Rs 20 lakh, but they allegedly sold it to South West Mining Company for Rs 20 crore.
