Speeding bus rams into motorcycle, one killed

Biker injured in another accident in Budha Garden

A man was killed and his 17-year-old niece was injured when a speeding bus rammed into the motorcycle they were travelling on at Krishna Nagar in east Delhi, police said on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Ashraf. He and his niece Rukhsar, 17, were on their way to meet a doctor at Bihari Colony when the accident occurred at around 10.30 am on Saturday.

Ashraf was driving the motorcycle, while Rukhsar was the pillion rider.

“When they reached road number 57 at Krishna Nagar, a speeding bus rammed into their motorcycle. Ashraf fell off the bike and was crushed under the rear wheel of the bus.

Rukhsar was critically injured,” a police official said.

The bus driver sped with his vehicle immediately after the accident.

After receiving information, police rushed to the spot and took Ashraf and Rukhsar to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Ashraf as brought dead.

Based upon Rukhsar’s complaint, a case has been registered against the bus driver.

Police are investigating the matter.

Biker injured

In a separate accident, a 45-year-old man was injured when his two-wheeler was hit by a speeding vehicle near Budha Garden.

Harkeerat Singh, a resident of Arjun Nagar, was returning home from work when the accident occured at around 1 am on Monday.

“Harkeerat was rushed to nearby Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. He is currently unfit for statement,” a police official said.

A case has been registered under section 279 and 337 of the Indian Penal Code
at Chanakyapuri police station.
