She was a student when the crown came to her. Urged by a lot of people, Elisa participated in a beauty pageant and made history by becoming Miss Mexico 2008.

She was now Nuestra Belleza Mexico (Mexican national beauty pageant), Elisa Nájera Gualito!

Metrolife caught the winner of Best in Bikini - Queen of Vinpearl at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant when she was recently in the City as brand ambassador of Corralejo Teqnic Challenge 2012.

Unlike others who keep trying to become the perfect combination of beauty and brains, all the charm came naturally to Elisa, “Many people wanted me to get into this pageant but at that time I was into my studies and then it just happened by chance.”

Since being crowned, the Mexican beauty has travelled the world over, “I feel proud to represent Mexico all over the world,” she said musing over her journey after the pageant.

Reminiscing her childhood and schooling, Elisa cherishes her being an all rounder. “I was a studious kid in school but was equally involved in extracurricular activities like dance and basketball.” Even today, when free, she loves “playing piano” but what keeps her in perfect shape is her passion for “going to the gym and cycling.”

But one significant support that remained constant throughout her shot to fame was that of her family. Elisa says that her family never imposed anything on her choice, “My family has always been very supportive of all my decisions and they knew that the pageant would be a new experience for me, so they supported me whole heartedly.”

Her life changed after the pageant, “Since I have won the pageant, I have received interesting job opportunities in modeling and television anchoring.” But the best part about these after-effects that Elisa is in love is to have become more sociable, “After winning the pageant, I have the opportunity to be more social and attend get togethers and meet new people.” And undoubtedly, the feeling is ‘awesome’!

This being her first visit, she was enamoured with the shopping possibilities in Delhi, “I have fallen in love with the City. Though I have been busy with my work here as the Corralejo Brand Ambassador, but I did manage to squeeze in some shopping sprees in my tight schedule!

I so much wish I had an extra bag to carry home all the beautiful things I see.” And like all firang first timers, visiting the “Taj Mahal” is on her priority list along with the “beach in Mumbai.”

And how could she not fall in love with the Indian cuisine? Though a lover of Sushi, after trying the non vegetarian here, she said, “I loved seekh kebabs.” And what remained on her to-do list was to “buy a saree from India.”

While talking about her future plans, she confessed, “I would love to open a restaurant” and added “Maybe work in an Indian movie if I get the opportunity!”
