Ex-MLA no more

Former legislator M Muniswamappa (78) died at the Jayadeva Institute of Cardiology in Bangalore on Monday night. He was ailing for sometime. He is survived by six daughters and a son.

His body was brought to the residence of his son-in-law, JD(S) district President M Rajanna on Tuesday and taken in a procession to his home village Anemadugu. The last rites will be held in the village on Wednesday, family sources said.

Muniswamappa  was elected to the assembly three times in 1978, 1985 and 2004. On all the three occasion he did not complete his term. He was also president of Mandal Panchayat and the president of PLD Bank.

In 1978 he was elected as a Congress legislator from Shidlaghatta contitutency. In 1983 he lost as an independent candidate and in 1985 he was elected as a Janata Party candidate. He lost in 1989 and 1994 contesting on a JD(S) ticket. He won as a JD (S) candidate in 2004.

Union Minister of state for Railways K H Muniyappa, legislators V Muniyappa, M C Sudhakar, K P Bachegowda, Zilla Panchayat President M V Krishnappa, JD(S) taluk unit president Dhananjaya Reddy among others paid their last respect.
