Inter-district dacoit gang arrested in city

200 gms gold, 9.5 kg silver, car recovered from them

A gang of five dacoits who were involved in robberies in various districts were arrested by the Sarswathipuram police who have recovered 200 grams gold, 9.5 kg silver and car totalling worth Rs 18 lakh.

Bangalore’s Laggere resident Vinay alias Thimmaiah, Mandya district’s Holalu village’s Raja alias Kariya, Bangalore district Anekal taluk’s Balyamarada Doddi’s Roopesh alias Reddy, Bangalore Talaghatpura’s Narayan alias Kulla and Ramanagar district Shivegowdana Doddi’s Shivaraju alias Karadi Shivu are the five who are arrested.

Police commissioner L Sudheer who disclosed this to the mediapersons at a press conference said, “The five members were moving around suspiciously near Bhogalingeshwara temple on Bogadi Ring Road on April 21, when the Saraswathipuram police who were on night rounds arrested them and on questioning found that they were involved in robberies in various districts. Later, they were remanded to judicial custody.”

Apart from gold, silver and a car, three mobiles, a bike, LCD TV and a computer has also been recovered. The gang has revealed that they were involved in robberies in Shimoga, Hassan, Tumkur, Mandya, Bangalore, Mysore and Ramangar during the interrogation, he said.

Diploma holder

Roopesh alias Reddy who hails from Anekal taluk in Bangalore district is a diploma holder. His greed for money has led him to a life of crime. 

Vinay and Raju have been neglected from childhood by the family and hence entered the criminal world. 

They would target the houses after noticing that there was nobody  there in the evenings and enter the homes at night and make away with valuables, said Sudheer.

DCP (law and order) Basavaraj Malgathi led the team which comprised of ACP A N Prakash Gowda, Saraswathipuram police inspector N S Chandrashekar, sub inspector Thimmaraju and staff that included H C Sidde Gowda, Dilip, Suresh, Dinesh and constables Diwakar, Prakash, Satish, Anand, Mahadevaiah, Ganesh, Suresh, Kumar, Ramesh and Somachari.
