JOIN USHectic lobbying is on to become chairpersons and members of 12 standing committees of the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP), to be formed on September 16.
The district unit of BJP, which has majority in the BBMP Council, will hold a meeting in a day or two to decide the names of the members of the standing committees. They will also take the District In-charge Minister, Ramalinga Reddy, into confidence before selecting the names.
After Katte Sathyanarayana became the Mayor of Bangalore, the standing committees were supposed to be constituted immediately. However, even after a week, the process has not started.
Sources in the BJP said that many corporators are aspiring to become chairpersons of the committees such as Geetha Srinivas Reddy, B V Ganesh, N R Ramesh, Shantha Kumari, B R Nanjundappa, A H Basavaraj, M C Srinivas, K Ravindran, Geetha Vivekananda, A L Shivakumar and K Latha. The Congress corporators may not become the chairpersons but they will have a good say in the committees given the fact that the party is in power in the State.
