School bus kills one, BMW injures two

An Indian Army personnel was crushed to death after a speeding Delhi Transport Corporation bus hit his motorcycle from behind at Welcome in north-east Delhi, police said.

Mukesh Kumar, 42, of Ashok Nagar, a driver in the Army, was going for work when the accident took place at Maujpur Chowk of Welcome. The bus was chartered to a school in Mayur Vihar and was carrying schoolchildren.

“He died on the spot. His body was taken to the Guru Teg Bahadur hospital for a post-mortem and was released to his family,” a police officer said.

Bus driver Rampal, 42, was arrested at the spot.

In another accident

A speeding BMW car hit an autorickshaw at Copernicus Marg injuring two persons, including a woman.

The impact left the front of the car and back of the autorickshaw completely damaged. The BMW airbags saved the driver, but the driver of the rickshaw and a passenger received injuries.

The car driver did not flee but took injured Sunita, 32, a teacher at Kerala Education Society, and auto driver Vijay to AIIMS for treatment.

“When we reached there we only found the autorickshaw at the spot. We then came to know that the car driver had taken the injured to AIIMS,” said the officer. Police registered a case and arrested the car driver.
