The Central body of the KSU yesterday decided to endorse the decision taken by the Executive Committee to oppose UCIL's development project and uranium mining in the state, KSU president Samul Jyrwa told reporters here.
Jyrwa strongly criticised the state cabinet's decision to lease land to UCIL, as there was no logic to the government's claim that the pre-development programmes would benefit the people of the uranium rich areas.
He claimed that the proposed infrastructure and other facilities to be developed with the amount earmarked for the first phase programme would serve the interest of UCIL only and while the amount for the second phase would be spent on mining for uranium.
