Flesh trade racket busted

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the City police arrested 16 persons on Saturday on the charge of running a prostitution racket at a hotel on Cottonpet Main Road.

Raju Yadav (23) from Deoria district, Uttar Pradesh, Surjit Singh (27) from Patiala district, Punjab, Musthafa (29) from Payangadi, Kannur, Kerala, Isubu Beary (38) from Kasargod, Kerala, Aishwarya from Mysore, Priya Yadav (19) from Kolkata, Saraswati (29) from Kathmandu, Nepal, Muskan (22) from Mysore, Pooja (22) from Nepal, Rabiya (24) from Mumbai, Esha Rao (28) from Hyderabad, Pinki alias Simran Kaur (26) from Tarn Tarn Sahib district, Punjab, Manpreet Kaur alias Manisha (19) from Sangrur district, Punjab, Renjat Kaur alias Sonia (21) from Chandigarh, Karishma Shaikh (28), and Reshma from Mumbai were allegedly running a prostitution racket at the Metro City Lodge and Guest House on Cottonpet Main Road.

The women were employed as live band girls, the CCB claimed, adding that four mobile phones and Rs 1,400 cash were recovered from the suspects. Eight other suspects — Sagar, Devaraj, Sunil, Suresh Babu, Shekhar, Samir, Dharma, and Javed — are absconding, the CCB said. The Cottonpet police have booked a case.

In another raid, 11 women and a pimp were apprehended by the CCB’s Women and
Narcotics Squad.

The raid was conducted at house No 66, at 4th Cross in Gurumurthappa Garden in J P Nagar. Vilas (28), a native of Mumbai, is the alleged pimp. The arrested women are Farah (24), Pooja (22), Shaman Mallick (23), all from Mumbai, Yaan (22), Sunita Basnil (24), Anutap (22), all from Nepal, Riya (22) from New Delhi, Sonia (22) from Amritsar, Punjab, Naghma (20) from Jaipur, and Mahi (21), Anisha (22), both from Chandigarh.

The women were hired as “bar girls” but the recruiters forced them into prostitution later. Their employers asked them to work as bar girls without the required licence at the Shekhar’s Bar and Restaurant on Double Road at night.

During daytime, they would be escorted by Vilas to the desired locations. Jayaram, owner of the said bar, is absconding, the CCB said.
